Local baseball players wrap up high-school careers at All-State series

June 14th, 2010 at Mon, 14th, 2010 at 3:39 pm by Kevin Endejan

Washington’s All-State Baseball Series took place Saturday and Sunday at Yakima Valley Community College with five area players competing.

Issaquah’s Spencer Rogers and Shane Yarnell, along with Eastside Catholic’s Sam Lindquist and Garrett DeGallier, and Liberty’s Troy Colyer competed.

The two-day tournament featured the top players from all classifications throughout the state, placed on four separate teams — Adams, Baker, St. Helens and Rainier.

Team Baker defeated Team St. Helens 17-5 on Sunday to win the championship.

Baker consisted of Lindquist and Colyer. Lindquist pitched two innings of relief in his team’s 12-9 opening round victory over Team Adams, allowing just one run in the fifth and sixth innings.

Yarnell started for Team St. Helens in the championship game, going the first four innings, allowing five runs.

DeGallier was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the St. Helens’ 11-4 victory over Rainier on Saturday.

Rogers was 2-for-4 with a double for the Rainier team in that opening-round loss.
