Former Eastlake High School softball player Kimi Pohlman and the University of Washington Huskies ended their run at a second consecutive National Championship Saturday in Oklahoma City.
The Huskies fell 4-3 to Arizona, two days after losing their opening round game, 6-3, to Georgia.
Pohlman, the starting right fielder, finished the two-game stretch going 1-for-8. She had a two-out single in the bottom of the third inning of Saturday’s game.
Pohlman ended her season with a .347 batting average, recording a team best 69 hits. She was 22-for-25 on stolen base attempts and scored 47 runs.
Pohlman attended The Bear Creek School in Redmond, but was allowed to play for Eastlake because her school didn’t have a softball program. As a senior, Pohlman played a crucial role in the Wolves winning the 2008 class 4A state championship. Up until her senior season, she played strictly club softball.
