Area baseball players named to All-State rosters

Four area players were named to the Washington All-State baseball team on Sunday.

Issaquah had two players named to the team in seniors Spencer Rogers and Shane Yarnell.

Rogers, a future University of Washington outfielder, hit .494 with 26 RBI and a home run. He also posted a 6-1 record on the mound, with 35 strikeouts. He will play on the Rainier team.

Yarnell batted .379 with 27 RBI, and had a a 7-2 record on the mound with 0.89 ERA. He will play on the St. Helens team.

Eastside Catholic senior pitcher Sam Lindquist will play for the Baker team, along with Liberty infielder Troy Colyer.

The All-State game takes place Saturday and Sunday at Yakima Valley Community College. There are four teams — Adams, Baker, St. Helens and Rainier — with top players from divisions all around the state.

Teams square off at noon and 3:15 p.m., on Saturday for a chance to play for the title at 1:35 p.m., on Sunday. The losers will play for third and fourth place at 10:25 a.m., Sunday.
